Designing your project

Designing and making is an aspect of Design and Technology that covers all the specialist areas. It is the creative part, where you get to leave your mark, so make the most of it!

This website is designed to guide you through the process of designing and making.

In order to do this, it is worth having a browse through all the pages before you begin your project in order to get an idea of what is involved. You can then use the design process to give you a framework in which to design and build your product in bite-size stages. The folio guide should be used alongside the design process guide, firstly to help you build a good quality folio and secondly, so you can use it to support the designing and making process.

The drawing techniques pages will offer information on methods for completing the working drawings you will need for your folio and for the manufacture of your product.

There is also a page of useful links, which will help with further research you need for your project.

Top tips for designing; make something that interests you or inspires you. It can be something you would use yourself, or that you think would be a useful item for others. It could be something that you think would be fun, like a game or that improves your environment, from a desk tidy to a custom made item of clothing. Be creative, and enjoy!
