Analysis and synthesis

ANALYSIS

You are analysing the brief to explore the issues around it. You need to ask as many questions as you can about the project you are intending, such as;

How long will this product take to manufacture?

What is the budget for this project?

What material am I intending to use, w hat materials come under budget, is this material the most suitable?

What is the colour scheme?What are the functions of the product?

And so on. Ask as many questions as you can so that you cover every possible consideration. Use the following starting points to help you;

Who?
What?
Where?
When?
Why?
How?

Make sure you cover the performance, technical and marketing aspects of your design.

SYNTHESIS

For the synthesis, you answer the questions in the analysis, for example;

This project will take ten hours to manufacture by hand.

The budget for the project is £15.00

The material I would like to use is wood.

This will come under budget and is suitable for the project.

The basic colour scheme, which I will investigate further to finalise will be red and orange.

The product will tell the time and will also fit in with the decoration of my bedroom.
